Human Support Services Major

Degree Types: Bachelor of Science (default) or Bachelor of Arts (alternative)
Driven to improve the lives of people around them, students pursuing the human support services degree are interested in serving individuals in their community. The degree provides an opportunity to pursue concentrations in education and community-based settings. This degree is ideal for students interested in professions within the human service field as well as those pursuing related post-graduate degrees that require an undergraduate degree.
Program Outcomes
University of Mary students who complete the major Human Support Services will:

Demonstrate a commitment to improving the lives of individuals with diverse backgrounds, cultures, needs, and challenges.

Demonstrate effective skills and knowledge to work collaboratively with a variety of community stakeholders.

Demonstrate ethical practice and professional disposition suited for a variety of roles supporting people through various agencies including but not limited to youth organizations, ministry outreach, advocacy, human services agencies, non-profits, community support, adult education, schools, and community-home support.

Major Requirements
Students will complete all of the core required courses, and select one of the two concentration options. Communications: Choose One
Option One: Community Concentration
Electives: Need 15 Credits
- Select an additional 15 credits in ADC, CRJ, PSY, or SWK coursework.
Option Two: Education Concentration
Field Experience: Choose One
Electives: Need 20 Credits
- Select an additional 20 credits from education-related coursework which includes EDU and PED prefix courses and/or MAT 201 and MAT 202 .
Total: 124 Semester Credits
