Marriage & Family Certificate

Chair: Dr. Leroy Huizenga

From the Garden of Eden to today, the family has been central to God’s plan of salvation. Yet families themselves-and even the very concept of family today-are under grave pressures. A Certificate in Marriage and Family from the University of Mary will empower you to understand and meet those challenges in your teaching and ministry. You will engage the Church’s magisterial tradition on marriage, sex, and family from its roots in Sacred Scripture to St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body, while also learning how to apply and proclaim the Church’s teaching to wounded persons and families in our contemporary world. This certificate can be completed with the Prayer & Spiritual Direction Certificate  and Sacred Scripture Certificate  in partial fulfillment of the Applied Catholic Theology, M.A.

Alternatively, students who do not wish to pursue a full master’s degree may instead choose to pursue a non-degree certificate program. This program will result in the award of a graduate certificate on the student’s official transcript. Please note: this certificate program is not eligible for Title IV funding, and therefore students will not be able to apply federal financial aid funds toward the completion of this certificate program if not completed as part of the full MA degree.
