EDU 329 - Infant Toddler Development

This course explores unique aspects of early childhood education, birth to age 3. Students will examine current, developmentally appropriate strategies or practices and curriculum models for infant and toddler development, including diverse learners and inclusive environments. Coursework includes an overview of theory, methodology, and pedagogical understandings for typical growth and developmental stages of cognitive, social, emotional, and physical domain areas of very young children. Students will investigate the importance of play, including creative arts, music, movement, and sensorial, in early learning while gaining exposure to the value of both standardized and authentic play-based assessment. Special focus and practice includes working directly with infants and toddlers as a key component for this course - requiring integrated fieldwork experience in an early childhood environment.
