EDU 520 - Prestige, Self, & Team This course explores how the prestige that accompanies athletic success influences one’s self-identity and relationships, both in and out of the arena. Students will learn how the virtues of prudence, justice, courage, temperance, magnanimity, and humility are essential for preserving a proper understanding of one’s vocation as an athlete or coach, in addition to how prestige provides a platform not for self-aggrandizement, but for inspiring others to a shared striving for human excellent in virtue. Students will explore how a virtue-centered approach to athletics impacts one’s relationship to media, marketing, and public image.
