PTH 865 - Orthopedic Elective This elective course covers advanced orthopedic concepts with an emphasis on an evidence-based clinical reasoning approach for patient care. Students will synthesize information from previous orthopedic coursework to make clinical decisions for complex orthopedic clinical cases including specialized orthopedic populations. Special emphasis will be placed on refining the subjective examination within an orthopedic initial evaluation and utilizing the clinical reasoning model. The course contains an emphasis on recognition of orthopedic clinical patterns through case study applications and practice of advanced psychomotor manual therapy techniques. Techniques covered will include joint mobilizations to the spine/extremities (thrust and non-thrust), MDT classification and management, adverse neural tension testing/treatment, and interventions such as dry needling, blood flow restriction, PNE.
