CMT 322 - Construction Detailing and Analysis I While understanding construction materials and methods is the backbone of a construction management student’s knowledge base, for effective constructability analysis it is necessary to know the basic principles of how materials should be assembled and detailed, and to be able to mentally visualize and graphically represent three-dimensional construction assemblies in abstract two-dimensional form. This course is a companion course to CMT 321 - Construction Materials and Methods I and will deal with basic principles behind how good construction details are designed. The course is the first semester of two and will cover commercial construction detailing in wood, structural steel, light gauge metal framing, brick and concrete masonry, pour-in-place concrete, foundations, precast concrete, tilt-up concrete, pre-engineered metal building, heavy timber, commercial roofing, curtain walls, glass, fire-protection, and site work. The course includes detailing by hand, using 2D and 3D software, and parametric modeling software (Building Information Modeling). The course meets once weekly for three hours.
