A standardized patient/simulation performer (SP) is an individual who is trained to role-play or portray a patient with an injury or medical condition, a patient seeking or in need of medication/counseling, and/or various family members of injured/sick/hospitalized loved ones. In this course, students will learn to be said standardized patients/simulation performers and to give professional feedback in standardized, real-life healthcare scenarios to assess and train the medical and communication skills of aspiring student healthcare providers. This class develops rapid memorization and character analysis of theatrical skills allows for simulation practice of various emotional roles, assigns real simulated performances, and gives feedback sessions of standardized patient efforts.
