Politics Major

Mission:

The Politics program at the University of Mary aims to increase student knowledge and stimulate interest in political philosophies, political institutions, and political processes through the development of critical thinking and clear communication skills. The goal of the program is to have students aspire to engage in the world around them in creating a common good for all.

Program Learning Outcomes:

Graduates will be able to:

  • Evaluate political philosophies and how they inform political ideologies, traditions and institutions.
  • Demonstrate how different political institutions and processes work in the United States.
  • Critically analyze current political events, media, and contexts in society.
  • Construct oral and written arguments concerning political events, processes, and ideas within the framework of a common good.
