Education, Catholic Montessori, M.Ed.

The Catholic Montessori M.Ed. offers a graduate level education degree that compliments Montessori certification from the following certified programs: American Montessori Society (AMS), Association Montessori International (AMI), Montessori Accreditation Council for Teaching Education (MACTE). Completion of one of these three certified programs will qualify candidates for up to 16 credit hours of prior learning. Students will complete an additional 16 credits hours of graduate education courses following the below curriculum. This degree prepares graduates to facilitate age-appropriate activities using Montessori methods to guide students and families in their formation and learning.

Students applying to this program will need to complete the MACTE, AMA, or AMI certified Montessori program independently, then send their completed transcript to the University of Mary in order to receive the necessary prior learning credit to complete this master’s program.

Major Requirements


Prior Learning: Montessori Program


Students must submit an official transcript demonstrating completion of one of the following programs:

  • Association Montessori International (AMI)
  • American Montessori Society (AMS)
  • Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE)

The transcript demonstrating completion of one of the above programs will be transcribed by University of Mary for a total of 16 prior learning credits toward the Catholic Montessori M.Ed. program.
