Cybersecurity Administration Major

Degree Types: Bachelor of Science (default), Bachelor of Applied Science (alternative), or Bachelor of Arts (alternative)

Cybersecurity Administration majors graduating from the University of Mary’s Gary Tharaldson School of Business will be enriched through a curriculum of discovery, development and application to ensure a sound knowledge of the key professional components of computer information systems. Students also gain an understanding of how to incorporate servant leadership into their everyday lives as business professionals. In addition to the core competencies of the University, graduates of the Cybersecurity Administration program will be able to:

  • Students will understand the principles of cyber defense.
  • Students will be able to effectively use networking technology and protocols to provide a secure network for users to operate in.
  • Students will understand basic operating systems concepts and be able to apply these concepts.
  • Students will develop system administration skills that will help them effectively administer systems in a responsible and ethical form.
  • Students will formulate decisions utilizing the Benedictine values, ethical frameworks, and professional standards.

Major Requirements


Required Courses:


All of the following courses require a final grade of C- or higher to count towards the major. This applies to courses taken at the University of Mary as well as transfer courses.

Non-Traditional/Distance Ed Students


Students who earn their information technology management major in nontraditional (online/distance sites) modalities are not required to complete BUS 280 , CSA 456 , or CSA 452 .

Total: 124 Semester Credits


Program length: 4 academic years / 128 weeks

Certifications


Students who wish to be awarded the embedded certifications for this major need to work with their advisor to ensure each certification is declared on their program of study. Students can review their records by logging into my.umary.edu. The below certifications can be formally declared by completing a Change to Program of Study form with the advisor’s assistance.
