Exploratory Studies Program

Chair: Katherine Mehrer
Degree: Bachelor of University Studies

Exploratory Studies is a short-term comprehensive program designed to meet the needs of first-year students who seek an opportunity to explore their academic interests, strengths, abilities, and vocational calling before committing to a major. The Exploratory Studies Program serves as a starting point that allows students to explore various disciplines offered at the University of Mary while making progress toward the successful completion of university liberal arts core requirements. With a focus on academic advising, career assessment, guided exploration of majors and careers, and opportunities that allow for interaction with faculty and academic school leadership, the program leverages the many resources available at the University of Mary to help students make an informed choice regarding their major, as well as future career and vocational pursuits. This program is administered by the Student Success Center.

New students can remain in this program for a maximum of two semesters. After two semesters, students must declare a major. If no major is declared, students will be automatically transitioned to the University Studies  program.
