CSC 370 - Foundations of Data Science This course focuses on exploiting the modern deluge of data for prediction, exploration, understanding, and intervention. Raw data will be analyzed using statistics and machine learning with the purpose of drawing conclusions about the information. Data Science involves Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Cleaning and Formatting, as well as Data Visualization. The student will learn the core concepts of inference and computing, while working hands-on with real data including economic data, geographic data and social networks. Scientific methods will be applied to structured and unstructured data to achieve repeatability and reproducibility.
