CHE 107 - Chemistry for Nurses


This course introduces nursing students to important concepts in chemistry and biochemistry. Topics covered will include atomic and molecular structure; chemical bonding; stoichiometry; states of matter; chemical kinetics; acid-base equilibria; hydrocarbons; carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins; and biochemical processes with emphasis on the application of chemistry to the healthcare setting. Basic math skills are a course prerequisite.

This is a standalone chemistry course for the nursing program. This course does not satisfy any requirement for a major or minor in chemistry and cannot be used as a prerequisite for any other chemistry course. This course does not have a laboratory component.
