Sacred Music Certificate

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: School of Arts & Sciences

Department Chair: Dr. Tom Porter

Designed for church musicians and Catholic school teachers with music degrees outside of sacred music who value additional training in the teachings, tradition, and practice of liturgical music.

Please note: this certificate can be pursued concurrently with the Music, M.A.  degree, as most of the courses will also fulfill electives for the master’s program. Courses that apply toward the M.A. in Music are eligible for Title IV Financial Aid funding. However, MUS 570 - Sacred Music Practicum applies only toward the certificate, and therefore cannot be paid for using Title IV aid.

If students choose to pursue this certificate program independently of the Music, M.A. , then this program is not eligible for Title IV funding. Students therefore will not be able to apply federal financial aid funds toward the completion of this certificate program.

Certificate Requirements
