Program Chair: Dr. Donald Bungum

Degree Type: Dual Degree in Master of Business Administration/Master of Arts

The University of Mary’s dual MBA/MA in Philosophy degree provides students with a habit of mind by which they are able to address practical challenges as well as think clearly about deeper, ultimate questions.  Through the cultivation of critical thinking strategies and rigorous engagement with the history of ethics, the history of political philosophy, and competing conceptions of human flourishing, students come to better understand the philosophical foundations of the Catholic Intellectual Tradition and its rivals, all while developing the ability to reason well, argue persuasively, write clearly, and communicate effectively. Students also learn how to apply what they learn to essential practices of successful business professionals, such as management, organizational leadership, economic analysis, and mission advancement.

All this will take place in the context of the University of Mary’s Christian, Catholic, and Benedictine culture that prepares students to be virtuous leaders in their careers and communities.

Who will benefit from this program?

This program is for those seeking to gain a competitive edge in careers in business, law, or public service.  It is also for those who wish to further their education for personal enrichment by coming to understand the relationship between the Catholic Intellectual Tradition and fulfilling one’s vocation through professional practice.
