Computer Science Major


Computer Science Faculty: Fennewald, Pilling (dean)

Degree Types: Bachelor of Science (default) or Bachelor of Arts (alternative)

The Computer Science major prepares students for careers in software engineering, programming, data analysis, system administration and management, computer and network security and research and development. Graduates also use their undergraduate computer science background (and analytical skills) to prepare for careers in many other fields of science, engineering, and information technology.

Computer Science Program Educational Objectives

​​Having been formed through Christian, Catholic and Benedictine values as whole persons for the whole of life, within a few of years graduation, our computer science graduates will:

  • Have increased responsibility in their professional roles as a result of their ethical integrity,
  • Be innovators of latest technologies and methodologies that enhance their fields,
  • Be life-long learners who seek advanced degrees and/or higher accomplishments in the field, and
  • In the Spirit of Service, and through leadership roles, collaborate with colleagues from multiple disciplines.

Major Requirements


Required Courses:


Need a grade of “C-” or better for all courses required of the major, as well as any pre-requisite courses for the major requirements.

Students must also achieve a GPA of 2.5 or higher for all courses required of the major.

Electives: Choose One


Choose any 3/400 level course from Engineering (ENR, ECI, EEL, EME, CSC, CMT), Math (MAT), Science (BIO, CHE, GLG, PHY, SCI), Cyber Security Administration (CSA), or Computer Information Systems (CIS).

Total: 132 Semester Credits
