Sacred Scripture Certificate

Chair: Dr. Leroy Huizenga

From the Apostles and Fathers to today, the Church has cherished and venerated Sacred Scripture. Yet in an age of distraction, many lack knowledge of Scripture. The University of Mary’s certificate in Sacred Scripture is designed to provide you with a coherent picture of Scripture’s story of salvation history and its important particulars as well as the Church’s historic manner of interpreting it spiritually and liturgically according to its fourfold sense. You will be enriched in your own Scriptural prayer and piety as well as in your own abilities in communicating its glories and depths to others in evangelism and catechesis. This certificate can be completed with the Marriage & Family Certificate  and Prayer & Spiritual Direction Certificate  in partial fulfillment of the Applied Catholic Theology, M.A.

Alternatively, students who do not wish to pursue a full master’s degree may instead choose to pursue a non-degree certificate program. This program will result in the award of a graduate certificate on the student’s official transcript. Please note: this certificate program is not eligible for Title IV funding, and therefore students will not be able to apply federal financial aid funds toward the completion of this certificate program if not completed as part of the full MA degree.
