Engineering Student Outcomes
- an ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics
- an ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors
- an ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences
- an ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts
- an ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives
- an ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions
- an ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.
Electrical Engineering Program Educational Objectives
Having been formed through Christian, Catholic and Benedictine values as whole persons for the whole of life, within a few years of completing their degrees, graduates of the University of Mary Electrical Engineering Program will be able to:
- Act as competent professionals of the highest integrity in Electrical Engineering or related fields.
- Be prepared to pursue further development through graduate education, short courses, pursue professional licensure, or other training programs in engineering or related fields.
- Show leadership and a spirit of service, both professionally and socially.
- Be able to work in multidisciplinary teams, make ethical decisions, and communicate effectively.
Plans for the Future
The University of Mary is constructing a new Engineering building, including classrooms, laboratories and offices, which will be completed by Fall 2020. Additionally, ABET accreditation will be sought for the Bachelor’s Degree program in Electrical Engineering during the 2020-2021 cycle. Electrical Engineering degrees awarded before accreditation will be retroactively accredited.
