Dean: Dr. Terry Pilling

Degree Types: Bachelor of Science (default) or Bachelor of Arts (alternative)

The University of Mary has partnered with the University of North Dakota (UND) to offer degrees in Chemical and Petroleum Engineering. Through this unique partnership, the student can remain on the University of Mary campus throughout their four years, taking some of their Junior and Senior level courses via the UND online program. A student completing the program will receive a degree in Engineering Science from the University of Mary, as well as an ABET accredited degree in Engineering from the University of North Dakota.

Major Requirements

A total of 40 semester credits of mathematics (MAT), science (BIO, CHE, PHY, SCI), and engineering (ENR, ECI, EME, EEL) courses at the 200 level or above. Additionally, students must follow the major requirements specific to their field of study at UND (or another accredited engineering school) and must complete their bachelor’s in engineering degree at their engineering school before the ENS major and dual degree will be awarded from the University of Mary.

The University of Mary’s affiliation agreement with the University of North Dakota allows for a variety of different engineering majors that can be completed on the campus at the University of Mary with some laboratory work at the University of North Dakota campus during a summer residency. Because of the diverse requirements for these majors, the student should note a few pertinent guidelines:

  • Students must build a solid mathematics background, especially in calculus.
  • Students will need to build solid computer skills.

Grade/GPA Requirements

Need a grade of “C-” or better for all courses required of the major, as well as any pre-requisite courses for the major requirements.

Students must also achieve a GPA of 2.5 or higher for all courses required of the major.

Total: 124 Semester Credits

Program length: 4 academic years / 128 weeks
