Program chair: Dr. Jill Nustad

The Wellness Minor exists to 1) broaden the knowledge, skills, and abilities of those interested in the healthcare and allied healthcare industries and 2) to engage students in the process of becoming stewards of their personal health and wellness stewards of global population health and wellness.

Wellness, defined as a multi-dimensional sense of being, includes the physical, psychological, social, spiritual, emotional, financial and intellectual domains. A minor in wellness provides a concentration of study that prepares individuals to develop or to serve on work site wellness teams. Students with an additional bachelor’s degree in athletic training or exercise science may also find employment as a wellness program coordinator or wellness director. The wellness minor seeks to prepare students to be stewards of their personal well-being and provides an expanded holistic wellness emphasis of study for those preparing for graduate studies in clinical exercise physiology, kinesiology, athletic training, respiratory therapy, speech language pathology, pre-medical, physical therapy or occupational therapy.
