PHI 480 - Modernity and the Sovereign State This course examines the origin and nature of modernity, along with its connection to the modern sovereign state. It will explore the precise meaning of sovereignty, the question of a crisis within modernity itself, as well as the attendant consequences of these phenomena with regard to ethics, religion, and political life.
