MS in Mental Health Studies

The Master of Science in Mental Health Studies is a non-licensure eligible program available as an alternative degree completion path to students who are enrolled as full-time students in the Master of Science in Counseling program, but who are unable or unwilling to complete the required clinical, addiction, or school counseling internship for the counseling program. To be eligible for the MS in Mental Health Studies degree, students must successfully complete all academic and program requirements for the MS in Counseling core and at least one concentration option, except the required internship.

Students who choose this degree option will not be able to return later and convert the MS in Mental Health Studies to a MS in Counseling degree. However, students may reapply as non-degree seekers in the future, complete their missing internship(s), and be eligible for counseling licensure that way.

Complete one of the following programs of study, minus the internship:

Counseling, Addiction Counseling Concentration, M.S.

Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling Concentration, M.S.

Counseling, School Counseling Concentration, M.S.
